Nosocomial infections are caused and acquired by the people
located at the same hospital venue. The spread is due to the
airborne dissemination of micro-organisms, involving microbiological
factors and the technical facilities (ventilation, fluid networks,
arrangement and set-up, and so on). The fight against the spread
of nosocomial infections requires a range of scientific (knowledge
of the micro-organisms) and technical (fluid circuit control,
flow display equipment, work protocols for humans, and so on)
skills and expertise.

| The methods, skills and expertise draw
on the experience acquired at the industrial (nuclear, microelectronic,
and food-processing) facilities, and transpose it to the hospital
environment. The team of industrialists at the EMA group are working
with healthcare professionals on the improvements required for
a better control of contamination in operating areas. The LME
and the LTP also contribute their expertise through 7 people. |
